overwhelmed, excited and bummed

Had an ultrasound yesterday of my already adorable and chubby baby boy. I really just want to squeeze his cheeks. and I think I'm ready to squeeze his cheeks tomorrow. Because he was being so good during the ultrasound, the sonographer wanted to practice some 4d pictures with our baby. Hooray for free! He definitely looks like a sibling. We're so excited to meet this little guy.

However in this ultrasound we found out our baby weighs about 10 lbs. right now. I knew he was big, but I was a little overwhelmed at his size. Because of my previous situation, my doctor said that it is now pretty much impossible to try a VBAC. I have to admit that I'm a little bummed. For my own sake I wanted to list some pros and cons
pros:
A scheduled delivery date and time
no hours and hours of labor
I won't have the possibility of breaking my pelvis.
Or LOTS of tearing
I have a great doctor
Healthy baby and a healthy mommy

Cons:
I won't be able to give a try at Vaginal delivery
My baby won't be one of those tiny precious newborns.
I won't be delivering until Feb. 18... which almost seems too far away :)

Anybody delivered a gigantic baby before? and no, I don't have the diabetes. Seems kind of crazy for this to happen. No one seems to know why.
Wish me luck!

Wow! Aubrey, I'm sorry you don't get to do a VBAC. But that's probably good considering his size. And, maybe you'll go into labor earlier than your set date. How fun to have a big baby boy. Chubby boys are the cutest. And think of it this way, he won't be a shrimp as I'm sure a couple of my boys will be. Oh, and Dylan's sister just had a baby boy that weighed 11 lbs 1 oz. and 24 inches long! So, it can be done. Good luck and congratulations to you!
Awesome! He is just going to be really tall when he is all grown up :) Cute little chubby cheeks!

Congrats!

They say drs estimates on baby size in the womb are many times off by 2 lbs... so maybe he isn't as big as they say. Don't worry. He'll come out cute as can be. And maybe you can try for a VBAC next pregnancy :)

Good Luck Aubrey! My first thought was how much he looks like Aria--strong family resemblance! How neat to have ultrasound pics like these. Wonderful to live in the day and age we do.

They estimated my son at 10lbs and he came out at 8.8lbs...
I do agree that they don't feel like a little newborn at that size..
My aunt has has had 3 over 10lbs and they are darling little chubby babies!!
Good luck! :)

wow Aubrie I love your new camera too! Gorgeous gorgeous pictures. I can't wait to see more. I'm sorry about the vbac. I have to say that c section were quite a bit better in many ways than my second (vbac) for healing reason.. BUT I would choose a vbac any day, despite healing, but then again, I didn't deliver a 10 lb baby... who is ALSO a boy(broad shoulders!)

Anyway, I'm sure it will wonderful to have that baby boy! OH yah, my sister in law just had an 11 lb baby NATURALLY.. not drugs.. amazing(but 5th baby) and my li'l bro was 11 lbs 11 oz! haha. No diabetes involved in either case. And very normal size kids.

I wish I had had a bigger child because mine looked like a little old man and had chicken legs. Chunky kids are so much cuter! Love you!

To better suit my purposes, I have decided to make this more of a journal. That's what it is anyway, but I see no reason to allow random people to see it. I am going *private* Please leave your email if you are even a casual observer at the happenings in the Pettit household. You are welcome any time. The change will happen one month from today.
