May Flowers

We're back at our first saturday of the month at the center for contemporary craft. The kids loved making their little bowls. I need to do this more on my own, for sure.

When Nate went out of town I spent a lot of time watching the kids at the pool and reading fluff. Some of my favorite times though.
Nate and Ron. Didn't know they were into selfies.. what?
I was treated like a queen this Mother's Day. I basically got to do anything I wanted which was glorious.
We went on a scooter ride, this time in the rain over to the UT dental school.
They have some fun water features there.
We face timed with our Moms who live far away. Jeff really is a heart breaker.
 These guys are my everything.
We headed out to Quintana State park for our annual ward party. It was fun!! And it was perfect weather this year.
But we had to rush back for the kids' musical theater performance. It was fun to watch them perform. They did such a good job.

Grandpa Trey and Grandma Julie came to visit for about a week before Aria's baptism so we got to take them to some fun places around Houston.  One of the best new things in Houston is the brand new Gorilla exhibit!! They are such fun animals... probably closest to humans.
Aria and Grandpa with the giraffes.
I only got one picture of the display at the church but here are a few of the details. the cake and pictures in frames. I even made the pedestals shown here. I made the cake without a size specific cake pan. I made it in a sheet cake pan and then cut 6 layers of the same shape out with a knife. Then I piped little flowers on adding a little more red food coloring every time I filled the bag.
I got the baptism image off a website that was offering it for free and the rest of it  I pretty much created myself.
I bought a bunch of flowers at trader joe's and had so much fun arranging these beautiful flowers. I was so glad that they had peonies.
It was a beautiful event and we had many friends and family that came to support. We couldn't have been happier. It was an amazing and really special day for me as her Mommy. I'm so grateful for her in our family. I just can't wait to see who she becomes.

Sunday evening we went to the James Turrell Skyspace art/light feature. It's a light show that runs every morning and every night when the sun goes down. It was so interesting how the lights in the structure affected the color of the sky. It was really quite peaceful and beautiful.
 Very vibrant colors.
sky looks really pink and yellow.
 My Dad's a ham...
So glad Megan and Alex could come too.
Aria and Jeff just adore my Mom. She is so loving and caring. I'm so glad they get to have her as a grandma. I'm one lucky gal.
Over memorial day weekend. We got the biggest storm we've ever had here that didn't have a name attached to it.

The flooding hit our ward boundaries directly and the devastation was pretty dramatic.
This bayou is normally about 20' lower than you currently see it.
It was definitely a wonder for us.
Aria participated in the end of year piano recital for her school at the local Barnes and Noble. She had a great time doing the classes with Ms. Wong.

This is Aria on the last day of school. She had the BEST year this year and we are so sad to leave this school that has been so good to us.
The fun has begun! We move in about a month!
One of Aria's besties Charlotte, they were at Charlotte's birthday party.
As a side note:
May was also the month that we finally made it past all the pre-inspection appointments and got going on making a baby with a specialist. We had a few bumps along the way, but mostly we had all good news. Nate's sperm count was good... but let's face it, we knew all along the problem was me... :) My Fallopian tubes were clear and I got lots of compliments on my uterus, despite my 2 c-section scars. But my ovaries had TONS of follicles. That meant that they would not be able to use injectables (yes... you read that right... you stick yourself up in the tummy to make eggs) but I had too many (seeds for eggs) already. So they didn't want me to be an octo-mom and I don't blame them, but that meant no injectables. So together we decided to give one last try with full strength oral medications on all medications. 150 mg clomid, (one pill, 3x perday) This is the one that makes me cray cray. Anyone who has used Clomid knows what I'm talking about. But it's nice to have an excuse for my bad mood... :) 1500mg metformin... this is a diabetes medication that they've found to have success with those of my condition. Doesn't effect me as long as I take it with food. and if I take it at dinner, it's a lot better because most of the discomfort happens when I'm sleeping; and luckily I sleep really well, right through it. I was also taking the appropriate dose of synthroid, because frankly, it can't hurt.

So for history's sake
May 8 - Day 1 of my cycle
May 13 - Go to doc, intrauterine ultrasound, checking the uterus, etc... so nice. Start clomid - cycle day 5
May 14 - Clomid day 2
May 15 - Clomid day 3
May 16 - Clomid day 4
May 17 - Clomid day 5
May 20 - Intrauterine Ultrasound, follicles were 11 and 13 mm.
May 22 - Intrauterine Ultrasound, follicle was 17mm
May 24 - Intrauterine Ultrasound, follicle was 24 mm ready to trigger! Triggered that night at 11 pm with injection into the tummy.
May 26 - 11 AM Transfer of Nate's washed sperm into my uterus. Nate took the morning off and we did this part together, thank heavens.

All of the Intrauterine ultrasounds were all when my in-laws were in town. Lucky me! And all during Aria's baptism weekend. So stressful.

Next we waited. More to come later... I know. the suspense is killing you. It's got a strange and a sad but hopeful ending.. I warn you.

To better suit my purposes, I have decided to make this more of a journal. That's what it is anyway, but I see no reason to allow random people to see it. I am going *private* Please leave your email if you are even a casual observer at the happenings in the Pettit household. You are welcome any time. The change will happen one month from today.
